Here at Fluorescent Gallery we have great respect for all of our competitors in this industry. This is an enjoyable business because it produces a fantastic result with fluorescent lighting, and we welcome any creative group who wants to play this game with us. But we only welcome them if they are playing fair.
But Octo Lights does not play fair.
- They “borrow” images from competitors to market their product. You can see an example of their copyright infringements here: Octo Lights Copyright Infringement
- They do not sell a decorative Light Cover, or Light Panel. They sell an inexpensive film insert and market it online against the rest of us as a decorative cover or decorative panel of ‘unmatched quality at the lowest price available’. We do not dispute the lowest price available clause.
- Their website is very rich with text, related to covers and panels and the amazing effects created by such products, yet they do not sell these. They are over-playing the game that Google currently dictates that you play. For success your website must have an abundance of applicable discussion, and lots of related content.
- If you do a YouTube search for Octo Lights you will find the same video uploaded hundreds of times with different titles and keywords in an effort to fool the search engines into directing more traffic to their site.
Our goal at Fluorescent Gallery is simply to produce the most visually stunning images we can dream up in an effort to do magical things with fluorescent or LED lights. We view their effort as one based on high volume web spamming backed by average or below products.
It has certainly never been our style to publicly admonish another company or competitor. This post would never have seen the light of day had it not been for a recently discovered copyright infringement by Octo Lights. They borrowed some nice photographs of our sky panel installations from our website and incorporated them into their countless promotional spam videos. It’s understood that their products are not good enough to use for such purposes, but that is not something Fluorescent Gallery ever would have considered doing.
To the rest our our competitors, keep up the good work. All of your creative efforts bring more awareness to the fact that you can really do some spectacular things with these lights. And that helps all of us.
