The winter of 2016-17 in California turned out to be the badly needed monster rain season that the state needed to mitigate the effects of the multi-year drought. One product of this abundant rainfall was the “super bloom of 2017” in the desert areas of Southern California. Anze-Borrego Springs was in particularly stunning form, displaying an abundance of Purple Sand Verbena, White Primrose, with an occasional desert sunflower rising above the rest.
